Taonga: Dust Water Wind - behind the scenes

TaongaRehearsal4-SMALL.jpgRehearsals for the world premier of Taonga: Dust, Water, Wind are in full swing, here’s a sneak preview. This internationally travelled company is gearing up for a show that is set to provide powerful and explosive movement from its seasoned performers, but not at the expense of the delicate tones of Richard Nunn’s Taonga Puru, and Louise Potiki Bryant’s signature subtle content. Expect traces of distant mythical lands to echo through the theatre as the performers leap and fall, and see the dancers transformed to fantails, owls and more.
TaongaRehearsal9-SMALL.jpg With internationally acclaimed performers like Taiora Royal, Moss Patterson, and Dolina Wehipeihana, even rehearsals are a dynamic experience, and there are more than a few spine shivering moments. When the sound track from Pitch Black’s Paddy Free is mixed with Richard Nunn playing live, the studio walls somehow drop away, and we are in a forest, a dusty world, in ancient times. This is going to be a must see so don’t miss out!
