Surveying two decades of work by Graham Fletcher, this exhibition points up the ambiguity in his approach to painting.

Representational depictions such as the Lounge Room Tribalism series are paired with abstraction in which he uses complex gridded patterning. His use of motif and medium can be as elusive as his messages, with tactics such as camouflage patterning and mistinted paints deployed. Between the artist’s palagi and Samoan heritage, an intersectional third space is denoted.
