WORLD PREMIERE

Inspired by the choreographer's Aunty Rona and her 80 years of life on the South Island's East Coast, as well as the story of Rona and the Moon, Taonga is a poetic display of dance and taonga puoro (traditional Māori instruments) accompanied by Richard Nunns.

A mesmerising piece of Māori contemporary dance theatre, Taonga is also a powerful illumination of what is precious to us in our contemporary lives, how we cope with change, and the role of intuition.

Founded in 2000 as a platform for Māori choreographers and dancers, Atamira is critically acclaimed for its inventive and stunning contemporary works.
