Artistic Director
The Auckland Festival Trust has begun an international search
for a new Artistic Director for the Auckland Arts Festival, the
region's pre-eminent multi-arts event.
The three-festival contract of current Artistic Director, David
Malacari, is due to finish following Auckland Arts Festival in
March 2011.
Auckland Arts Festival CEO, David Inns, says Malacari's
leadership has seen the biennial event become a firmly established
part of the international arts and cultural calendar.
"The Auckland Arts Festival has built a reputation for
presenting top quality work from around the world, as well as
developing and presenting the very best in New Zealand work," he
says.
"With planning for our 2011 programme well underway, we are now
looking for an Artistic Director who will shape the Auckland Arts
Festival in 2013 and beyond."
The Festival, which began in 2003, will be the first major arts
and culture event of the new Auckland Supercity - the amalgamation
of eight regional and territorial authorities into a single council
for the Auckland region.
Artistic Director David Malacari says this is an exciting time
for a newcomer to take the creative helm.
"In the past five years I've been proud to play a significant
part in an incredible resurgence in Auckland's cultural life," he
says.
