The Auckland Festival is Auckland’s premier festival of art and culture. Presented biennially, it celebrates the distinct and unique characteristics of Auckland and its location within the Pacific Rim. It targets the people who live in the Auckland region, as well as attracting visitors to the city. It instills a feeling of pride, excitement and reinforces Auckland as a great place to live and visit.
Auckland Festival Trust has presented four Festivals to date which together attracted over 880,000 participants.
The next Auckland Festival will take place from 2 – 20 March 2011.

Objectives:
- showcase excellence through staging leading international and New Zealand work across every art form, bringing many shows and events not otherwise available
- programme to engage regional and national audiences
- provide accessibility through a wide range of ticket prices as well as free events
- play a pivotal role in the commissioning and development of new NZ work
- promote learning and audience growth by delivering a comprehensive education programme for adult/school audiences right across the Auckland region
- create significant opportunities and jobs for the creative sector
